World AIDS DAy Borderland Film F

Submit your short film to the 2017 World AIDS Day Film Competition! We will be showcasing short films that celebrate, educate, and elucidate the issues surrounding living with HIV/AIDS in the US/Mexico border region.

The showcase will be held on December 1st, 2017 in El Paso, Texas as part of our World AIDS Day commemoration.

MIssion

The WORLD AID DAY BORDERLAND FILM COMPETITION is sponsored by a coalition of organizations from El Paso, TX, Las Cruces, NM, and Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico that work to educate and empower our community around issues facing the transmission of HIV and living with HIV. We are seeking short films that empower and give voice to those who face the risk of infection with HIV, are living with HIV/AIDS, or who have passed away due to their HIV positive status, and most especially, but not limited to, stories that take place on the U.S.-Mexico border. Films must be suitable for family viewing and not include explicit material.

Guidelines

Submit your short film to the 2017 World AIDS Day Film Competition! We will be showcasing short films that celebrate, educate, and elucidate the issues surrounding living with HIV/AIDS in the US/Mexico border region.

The showcase will be held on December 1st, 2017 in El Paso, Texas.

We welcome short film submissions about those who face the risk of infection with HIV, are living with HIV/AIDS, or who have passed away due to their HIV positive status.  We are especially interested in stories that take place in the U.S.-Mexico border region.

Films must be:

  • submitted in a digital format

  • be no longer than 10 minutes long


Possible topics include, but are not limited to: 

​

•    Celebration of life after an HIV positive diagnosis
•    Realities of living with HIV
•    Love, relationships, and HIV
•    Preventing HIV infection
•    Celebration of a HIV prevention hero(ine)
•    Celebrating service on behalf of those infected with HIV
•    Celebration of the lives of those who have passed away from HIV

For the inaugural 2017 competition, priority will be granted to filmmakers from the El Paso, Las Cruces, and Juarez border region as well as films whose subject matter is about or takes place along the U.S.-Mexico border. We encourage submissions from both emerging as well as established filmmakers.

October 1st - Earlybird Deadline - $10 / Students: Free
